Built in 1591, the four-minaret Charminar is the symbol of Hyderabad and stands at the heart of the old city. Walk around the monument and the busy streets that surround it. Go early in the day to avoid crowds and heat.
2. Golconda Fort ✓ In our city tour
A massive hilltop fort once known for the diamond trade, with huge gates, clever acoustics (a clap at the entrance can be heard at the top) and wide city views. The evening sound and light show tells the fort’s story. Wear comfortable shoes – there is a lot of climbing.
3. Salar Jung Museum ✓ In our city tour
One of India’s largest museums, with art, ivory, clocks and sculptures collected by the Salar Jung family. Do not miss the musical clock and the Veiled Rebecca statue. Closed on Fridays.
4. Chowmahalla Palace
The former seat of the Nizams: four palaces, courtyards, chandeliers and a fine collection of vintage cars. A short walk from Charminar. Closed on Fridays.

An arts and crafts village in HITEC City with handicraft stalls, rural-style huts and frequent cultural performances. A nice relaxed evening outing.
